About Sean

I’m a recent graduate of computer science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I hail from Clovis, California, a city very near Fresno. During the day, I support software engineering operations at a leading video surveillance firm.

Clovis resides in California’s central valley, a region that stretches from Sacramento (where I was born) in the north to Bakersfield in the south. Few other places in the world offer quite the spectrum of air pollutants as Fresno and the greater Central Valley; some even call it the nation’s worst air basin. On hot summer days, the sky is a haze of particulate matter from agriculture operations, fireplaces, and automobiles. The haze completely blots out the nearby Sierra Nevada’s; a lovely sight to behold, albeit one only seen after rain shower flushes out our hazy air.

I’m committed to changing my own ways to help mitigate this problem, and I encourage others to do the same. We can write all the letters we want to our representatives (we should!) and to our power companies (we should!), but the foundation of changing our world lies with each one of us. You can preach it, but you have to live what you preach!
This is what I’ve done to change my life and my world:

  • I’ve seen An Inconvenient Truth
  • I ride my bike to work.
  • I’ve replaced incandescent bulbs with more efficient fluorescent bulbs.
  • I’ve turned up my thermostat to more conservative levels to save energy.
  • I started this blog!

What will you do?
